Constructo America New York 1851

Constructo America New York 1851

In 1851 the schooner America, from the New York Yacht Club, beat the fifteen best British yachts in a race round the isle of Wight in the south of England. The winning club then sent out a challenge to yachtsmen from all over the world, offering the cup it had won to any yacht capable of defeating the America, and thus was born the most famous sailing regatta, The America's Cup.
